Programmes

Community Matters works on a number of major funded programmes. Click on the titles below for more details:

  • Community Assets Matter: Community Matters has developed a new handbook and training programme "Community Assets Matter" to address the growing need for guidance, support and advice in the Management of Community Buildings and other Assets
  • Community Asset Transfer: The Programme has been running since 2007 and is entering its fourth year, which as before will demonstrate in selected local authority areas how local authorities and local community-led third sector organisations can be supported to develop joint plans for asset transfer and to begin to implement them.
  • Communitybuilders: The Community Alliance (see below) in a consortium led by Adventure Capital Fund has been selected as national partner to manage the Communitybuilders Fund - a £70 million government programme which aims to help build more cohesive, engaged and active communities through investment in community-led organisations looking to develop long term viability.
  • Empowerment Programme: The Community Matters Empowerment Programme "Re:Source" aims to improve community resourcefulness and build Smarter Communities which are more effective, confident and sustainable.
  • Children and Young People: The Youth at the Centre - National Programme.
    Children and young people are an integral part of our vision for active and sustainable communities in which everyone is valued and can play their full part. However, we recognise that children, young people and community organisations working with children and young people have specific needs and challenges that must be addressed in order to achieve this vision
  • London Development Project: The London project pays for a Development Officer, who aims to identify small, new and emerging community organisations, especially Black and Ethnic Minority and Refugee groups, who would benefit from Community Matters services; Help build the individual and collective capacity of community groups to the point where they can attract funding for specific projects; Develop sub-regional networking between community organisations in order to share information and best practice, and respond to new opportunities; Track the development of the new London regional policy and infra-structure as it relates to the Community Sector, and apply this in the support of community organisations
  • VISIBLE: The VISIBLE Communities™ quality systems and standards for the community sector have been developed by Community Matters in consultation with its members and other core stakeholders. VISIBLE Communities™ is a unique approach to promoting quality and best practice in the community sector.
  • Community Alliance is a partnership of Community Matters, bassac and DTA. Working jointly, our vision is to have a Community Anchor in every neighbourhood and provide a wide range of services and products aimed at supporting strong and sustainable anchor organisations
  • Every Action Counts: New on-line training course. The Every Action Counts programme aims to stimulate action by community groups to protect and improve their local environment, now and for generations to come.
