Support for Communities
Supporting communities to help improve their wellbeing and health is a key focus of our work.
What We Do
We continuously develop our portfolio of projects and activities that provide opportunities for mutual support, volunteering, exercise, empowering and engaging isolated people, with the aim of enhancing their physical, mental, and emotional health.
By talking to the people in the community, we take the lead from what they tell us they want and need for them to live happier, healthier lives.
From supporting isolated parents and children during lockdown with online sessions to help new mums develop relationships with other parents through craft and creative activities, all our work involves direct collaboration with those living in those communities, health and children’s centres, social prescribing teams and other supportive agencies to maximize the positive outcomes.
Community Champions
Community Champions are volunteers who work closely with local families to develop relationships and identify those who can play an active, leading role in their community.
Work With Families
Delivering craft and creative activities, support sessions, and healthy eating events to work directly with families to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.
Wellbeing Champions
Recruiting volunteers who will receive training about how to provide simple health messages to communities Leeds.
Our Vision
The Community Matters vision is to provide a sustainable and effective 'hub' of learning, support, advice and guidance, enabling local communities and organisations to grow and achieve through the provision of a high-quality service.
We do this in a number of ways through our various projects working with children, families and communities in West Yorkshire. We also offer wide ranging support to not for profit organisations and those managing community buildings across the UK.
